Red Giselle is inspired by the tragic life of the famous Russian ballerina, Olga Spessivtseva whose stage career begun in Petrograd during the time of the Revolution. Her contemporaries called her “Red Giselle” because this role gave the immortality for her and at the same time became her biggest spiritual tragedy.
