Daguerreotype in Russia. Collection of the Historical Museum

1 in stock

The volume “Collection of the Historical Museum” contains the largest collection of daguerreotypes in Russia from the collection of the State Historical Museum. Here are portraits of prominent figures of the 19th century – the Decembrist S.G. Volkonsky, the writers I.S.Turgenev and A.I. Herzen, the historians T.N. Granovsky and I.E. Zabelin, the Slavophile A.S. Khomyakov.

The publication of the Consolidated Catalog “Daguerreotype in Russia” is carried out by ROSPHOTO as part of the program for the preservation of domestic photographic heritage. At the beginning of the preparation of the catalog, the main task of the specialists was to identify and collect information about the preserved unique monuments of early photography in Russia. But when systematizing the materials received from colleagues, it became clear that in many cases, subjects need additional study – a thorough check of dating, establishing authorship and clarifying attribution.
