About the author:

Maria Samoilova is a multidisciplinary artist who works in mixed media, combining sculpture and photography, painting and installation, zines and video. In her work she uses her own and others’ family archives, personal videos, various languages, interacts with inscriptions, slogans, words, symbols, cultural signs, social codes, remaking them, destroying or inverting their meaning, tearing them out of their usual environment and placing them in new conditions or into new mediums, laying down several layers of perception.

Graduate of the Samara Avangard School and The Sreda Obuchenia Higher School, member of the Russian Union of Art Photographers.
