These photos were taken during 2008–2013 in Saint Petersburg as a documentation of author’s everyday household routines. All these years he lived in shared, so called “communal”, flats. There you don’t choose your flatmates, usually they are families with kids and elders, mixed with students and migrant workers. Common areas, the kitchen and the bathroom, are the places to meet each other, willingly or unwillingly, and not so comfortable and nice to be in. The book has a form of a box with 44 inkjet prints, naturally ‘found’ still lifes of everyday household objects, clothing and food, in shared and private spaces.
