“St Petersbourg doubles. It has got two waters. One of it’s waters is on the surface: there is plenty of it, it’s beautiful, it takes the city apart to the transparent edges, in which the water finds it’s reflection, doubles, plays with illusoriness of one and another. The reflection becomes real. Another water is vertical, it’s on top and on the bottom, muddy axis of the born storm, ready to tear apart all of the front door mirrors.” Andrey Bitov
With a wast collection of literary and artistic description of St Petersburg it still is a tough topic to comprehend. It takes a very well balanced approach to do so, especially photographically. Two Waters is a publication with just b&w photographs of well-known authors such as Alexandr Kitaev, Andrey Chezjin, Evgeniy Mokhorev, Alexey Titarenko, Dmitrij Andreev, Boris Smelov and others including American author Michael Kenna.
